Changing the world one gift at a time...

Freecycle

How it all Began

Thurrock (West) Freecycle has been running since 21st May 2006. We are a member of the worldwide Freecycle Network.

The Freecycle Network was started in May 2003 and provides individuals and non-profit organisations an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items. One person's trash can truly be another's treasure!

Thurrock (West) Freecycle now have over 570 members and we're growing fast! Our members are passionate about keeping perfectly useable items out of landfill.

If you have items in your home that you no longer use, you can gift them, for free, to someone else in your own community who can use them. The Thurrock (West) Freecycle group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, working appliances, clothes or toys your kids no longer play with, or even an old door, as long as it is free, legal and appropriate for all ages then feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

One rule:

Everything posted must be free!

Freecycle™ Mission Statement:

"Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community."
