Chafford Gorges Community Fishing Club request for funds £1500

The forum was informed that this club has now been running for 1 year. It has around 80 members including 40 junior members. The fees are £30 for and adult and £15 junior members. The club leases and looks after the Lion Gorge fishing lake which is now well looked after by 16 Bailiffs. So far the club has organised 12 working parties and filled nine 12yd skips in their efforts to improve the area. They have replaced the notice boards and refurbished some 60m of pathway so far. In doing so the club has spent £1500 on materials. This was raised from its membership fees but more materials are needed if they are to improve the paths further to provide better access to the site for the general public. Good access to the lakes is deemed important especially as the club, for local residents, aims to be fully inclusive.

The question of access gates was raised and the club representative stated that gates have been provided to secure access to the site and allow access by pushchairs and wheelchairs but not by motorbike.

The club approached the forum for £1500 toward the (non labour) costs of refurbishing the paths further.
